More about us
Part of the University
The Robert Darbishire Practice is part of Manchester Medical School at The University of Manchester. All of the clinical and non-clinical staff are University employees. This makes us very different from the vast majority of practices which are owned by the GP partners that work there. Any surplus income is reinvested in the practice in order to improve the service we can offer to our patients and the working lives of our staff.
As part of the University, the practice is involved in the education of the healthcare professionals of the future. To find out more about how this might affect you see: Teaching.
Part of the NHS family
Like other surgeries, we are part of the NHS family, providing NHS primary care services to NHS patients under contract to the NHS. We are in the area of Manchester Primary Care Trust who oversee health services in this area. We work with them to ensure that the services we offer are of a high standard.
Our staff
We have a large staff team, and all are committed to helping us provide the best possible care to our patients. To find out more see: Staff. Management responsibility for the practice is held by the Executive Committee, which is made up of senior clinical staff and managers. This helps to ensure that the needs and opinions of all our staff are considered when decisions are made.
Listening to our patients
We very much value the views of our patients and each year we carry out a survey to find out what our patients think of our service. We also carry out occasional other surveys on specific issues. If you are asked to complete a form we hope you will take the time to share your honest opinions with us, as this will help us to learn about what we can do better. We also encourage our patients to submit comments and ideas for improvements and we have a suggestion box in the waiting room.
